Key structural observations
- The oath by the sky and night star passes through a question and answer (1–3), then affirms the guardianship of every soul (4).
- The command to consider one’s origin introduces human creation and leads to the power of resurrection (5–8).
- Secrets will be tested on the Day of return; the human being will have neither strength nor a helper through whom to escape it (9–10).
- The second oath joins the sky returning rain and the splitting earth (11–12). It leads to the decisive word, which is no jest (13–14).
- The deniers’ plots meet Allah’s response (15–16). The Prophet then receives the command to grant them a brief respite (17).
