Surah 111

Al-Masad

المسد

5 verses · Meccan

Key structural observations
  • The surah is structured as a tightening mechanism: hand, brilliance, wealth, fuel, rope — each layer shows self-protection hardening into self-strangulation.
  • Its governing irony is that what looks like flame-like prestige already contains its own burning direction; brilliance is not neutral surface but an orientation being fed from within.
  • The final image of masad gathers the whole surah into one law: what is woven against truth first abrades the soul, then binds it.
