Key structural observations
- A provocative request opens onto punishment no one can avert, then the ways of ascent, the angels and the Spirit (1–4). Beautiful patience answers this scale; the deniers’ perspective and Allah’s distinguish distant and near (5–7).
- Sky and mountains change appearance before close friends see one another without rescue (8–11). The guilty person would surrender an expanding circle, from children to all the earth; the first No stops the ransom, then the flame calls the one who turned away and hoarded (11–18).
- The word halūʿ unfolds through alarm when harm touches and withholding when good touches (19–21). The exception of those who pray opens a portrait: constant prayer, a known right for the petitioner and deprived, belief in the Day and vigilance before punishment (22–28).
- Guarded intimacy, care for trusts and covenant, firm testimony and preserved prayer lead to honour in Gardens (29–35). The two mentions of prayer surround a life; wealth opens while what is entrusted receives care (23–34).
- Groups hurry towards the messenger and expect the Garden; the second No recalls their origin (36–39). Right and left widen to risings and settings; Allah can replace without being outstripped (37, 40–41). The promised Day returns at the close with the rush from graves and lowered eyes (42–44).
