Key structural observations
- Oaths concerning the city, the Prophet’s presence and birth lead to the human condition in toil (1–4).
- Two ayaḥsabu questions surround the proclamation of great expenditure: presumed escape from all power and the illusion of having gone unseen (5–7).
- Eyes, tongue, lips and two paths recall received gifts. The uncrossed steep path is then named and explained (8–16).
- Freeing and feeding in hunger lead to specific people. Faith and double mutual encouragement place effort within a community (13–17).
- The people of the right are set against those rejecting the signs, the people of the left. The closed fire answers the initial claim to independence (5, 18–20).
