Key structural observations

The surah is structured around a violent revaluation of weight: what the self wants to lighten may be precisely what saves it.
Its central contrast is between stabilising interior mass and a lightness that feels like freedom but ends in collapse.
The surah therefore makes salvation depend not on outward ease but on what still carries real weight when all scales are exposed.

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

الْقَارِعَةُ

مَا الْقَارِعَةُ

وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا الْقَارِعَةُ

يَوْمَ يَكُونُ النَّاسُ كَالْفَرَاشِ الْمَبْثُوثِ

وَتَكُونُ الْجِبَالُ كَالْعِهْنِ الْمَنْفُوشِ

فَأَمَّا مَنْ ثَقُلَتْ مَوَازِينُهُ

فَهُوَ فِي عِيشَةٍ رَاضِيَةٍ

وَأَمَّا مَنْ خَفَّتْ مَوَازِينُهُ

فَأُمُّهُ هَاوِيَةٌ

وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا هِيَهْ

نَارٌ حَامِيَةٌ
